Walkman Professional WM-D6C
Eventually the TCS-310 developed an annoying hum and I decided to buy
a new Cassette Recorder. I bought a Walkman Professional WM-D6C, which
was a model which was made for an amazingly long time, from1982 to 2002.
I think I bought mine in about 1990 I think. Sound samples: in the house
in Banaras in 1980, Ghan Shyam talking
about a Kabir poem at the
Ramlila in Banaras 1991.

The Compact Cassette is just about dead now as a recording media,
it hangs on perhaps mostly as some people have cassette decks in their
cars. But, it ruled the roost through the 1970s and 80s but began fading
away in the nineties and is now disappearing fast, and will soon be
remembered about as much as the eight track cassette cartridge as a
thing of the past. The possible digital replacement, DAT Tape, also
failed to take off as a portable media, and I never got one.
