Bhiksu Rahul Starts Hunger Strike
Bodhgaya, 12 August, (Dainik Jagran). Ven. Rahul Sankrityayan the Secretary of the Vajrabodhi Society who was taken into police custody on Wednesday night has begun a hunger strike. Whilst on Thursday a high level delegation of the Buddhist Society of Bihar has seen him in custody and spoke to 'Jagran' saying saying that the police action was oppressive. The high level delegation strongly condemned the police action.
The Society's secretary Bodhi Ratan said that the monk who lit the lamp of education in the life of the poor children was being constantly harassed by one who is overbearding and called a people's representative. It was because of this that he had decided to immolate himself. He said that if the administration did not give justice then the Bihar Buddhist society would be forced to start an agitation. In the high level delegation of the Buddhist Society were its chair, Ven Rahul, Ven. Prajnaratna, and Nalanda's Ven. Prajnapal.
