The Gaya town Council has reserved the post of Mayor for a Scheduled cast Woman and the Bhagalpur Council to a woman of any community. The State Election Commission Secretary Mr Suman Kumar said that the reservation would be rotated according to the population. This revervation would be in effect for five years. That is there was provision for the election of a mayor on an annual basis but the duration of the councils would be five years. In this respect the post of Mayor in both Gaya and Bhagalpur would be reserved for women for five years each. After five years when there was another election this cycle would be deemed to be complete. That is apart from in these two municipalities the revervation would come into effect.
