Beautification Program agreed for Bodhgaya
Assistant Reporter, Bodhgaya, 24 October. The meeting of the Mahabodhi
Temple Management committee was conducted in the offices of the committee
offices under the Chairmanship of the District Magistrate Amrit Lal
Meena. Several programs for the beautification of the temple compound
were agreed at the meeting.
The Secretary of the Mahabodhi Temple Management Committee Bhante Prajnasheela
said that in the meeting of the 22nd of October [it was agreed] to fix
beautiful spot lights all around the Muchalinda pond and in the middle
of the pond to attract tourists a fountain would be installed which
would be a hundred foot high. In regard to the security of the compound
barbed wire would be installed on the South-West. The Meditation garden
would have lighting installed and be opened. The toilets in the compound
would be repaired.
For the preservation of the world famous Mahabodhi Temple in an agreement
with the Archaeology department twenty lakhs of rupees would be paid
immediately to them. The committee also discused purchasing the Lumbini
guest house they had built at government rates. The committee secretary
said that before the festival the compound would be painted and prepared.
